House Mate Wanted 😇

I have a lovely, fully furnished room available for rent in Observatory, Cape Town.

The room is in a four-bedroom house.

There are three bedrooms downstairs, and we have a private loft upstairs. If you like privacy, then we are your vibe. But the house and housemates are also open to new friends and good energy.

The shared spaces:

The house was built in the 1920, but it was renovated last year to become a guest house. The kitchen was overhauled with a farmhouse theme and has a fully equipped gas stove and a new Samsung French door fridge. We also have all the equipment you need to cook and bake. The kitchen was created to be a food lover’s dream for those who love to cook and entertain.

The house also has a stunning Sunroom/ lounge with a skylight and was decorated with a beach cottage theme.

Lastly, the house has a bathroom and shower downstairs and a separate water closet. So you never need to wait or worry that there is a line for the ablution facilities lol. The downstairs guests share this bathroom, and there is a private loft upstairs that has a bathroom and a balcony.

Amenities:

We also have a UPS, so you should not be impacted by load shedding if you need wifi all day and night, hehe. 😉

Rent: includes electricity, water and wifi.

Cleaning: A domestic comes once a week and does all the cleaning and your laundry.

Parking: Off-street parking that is monitored by security

There is the “Spar” (a grocery store) right across from us that has parking available with around-the-clock security, but that is at your own cost. It is around R6000

Highlights of Observatory

We are super central and close to the hub of Observatory with its clubs, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, amazing second-hand stores and bookshops. But we are far enough that you won’t be bothered with noise or rowdy, drunk people.

I’m a news editor living in Gardens, and I manage the house together with Marcia, my amazing domestic, who helps keep everything running smoothly. Together, we’ve created a warm and welcoming space for travellers, students, and professionals who want to experience the vibrant energy and charm of Observatory.

Our guests stay for different lengths of time — some for just a month or two, while others end up staying for a year or longer. What they all have in common is a spirit of kindness, thoughtfulness, and respect. It’s this shared attitude that makes the house feel less like temporary accommodation and more like a true home.
