About the room

House Mate Wanted 😇

I have a lovely, fully furnished room available for rent in Observatory, Cape Town.

The room is in a four-bedroom house.

There are three rooms downstairs, and we have a private loft upstairs. If you like privacy, then this is your vibe. But we are also open to new friends and good energy.

I just redid the kitchen, and it has a farmhouse theme. It has a fully equipped gas stove and a huge Samsung French-door fridge. We also have all the equipment you need to cook and bake.

We have a stunning sunroom/ lounge with a skylight and a beach cottage theme.

The house is a fully operational guest house that caters to digital nomads, holiday makers and postgraduate students at UCT.

If you are in the medical field and need a close place to Groote Schuur Hospital, then our home is the perfect spot for you.

We have a UPS, so you should not be impacted by load shedding if you need wifi throughout the day. 😉

Rent: includes electricity, gas, water and wifi costs.

Cleaning: Included in the rent

Parking: Off-street parking that is monitored by security

Grocer, Spar is right across from us, and has parking available with twenty-four hour security, but this is at your own cost.

Highlights of Observatory

We are super central and close to the observatory’s hub, which has clubs, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, amazing second-hand stores, and bookshops. But we are far enough that you won’t be bothered with noise or rowdy drunk people.

About the roomies

I’m a news editor, and together with Marcia, my amazing domestic, who helps me run the house, we’ve created a welcoming space for travellers, students, and professionals looking to experience the vibrant energy and charm of Observatory. Guests stay for varying lengths of time: some just a month or two, while others find themselves staying a year or longer. What unites them all is a spirit of kindness, thoughtfulness, and respect, which makes the house feel less like temporary accommodation and more like a true home. I’m also happy to share more about the current housemates during our chats, so you can get a feel for the community here.
