Hello, I’m starting to put out feelers for a new home in Cape Town. I am a woman in her early 40s with a nearly 4 year old dog, Luna. She’s a medium-sized mixed breed. I am looking to live in a safe, happy home where we all contribute to making it a wonderful space to live. We do have a few requirements:

• Must be a shared home with fellow dog lovers. Luna is child-friendly, dog-friendly and cat-friendly (so am I). My ideal situation is one where you will love her as your own, as I too will love yours.
• Must be within walking distance of a park or another dog-friendly outdoor space where Luna can run off lead.
• I am a freelancer and creative soul who often works from home. I also work in film sometimes (long days) and I need to know that it’s safe to leave Luna at home when I’m out. I’ve always worked predominantly from home and we’ve shared homes since she was a puppy, so ideally a home where there are people or other dogs around during the day.

The nice to haves:

• Ideally situated in one of the following suburbs: Rondebosch, Newlands, Claremont, Kenilworth. I’m also open to suburbs close to town like Gardens, Walmer Estate or Tamboerskloof as well as areas on the MyCiti route like Sunningdale.
• I’d like to move into an existing house share and live with people who are already used to living communally or someone renting out a pet-friendly cottage.

I am currently spending R7 800 p/m on rent (all inclusive) and I’m looking for something in this region (Yes, in Cape Town, I know!). I am in no rush to move and need to give my current landlord two months’ notice but I would like to put some feelers out for what’s available. It is becoming important to me to live in a home where there is a sense of community and shared responsibility when it comes to things like recycling and mowing the lawn. It’s important to me to live in a property that is well-maintained and genuinely cared for by the owner and I will in-turn be a wonderful tenant. I am in introvert by nature but hope to have housemates I can have a laugh with or share a meal with from time to time.
