🏡 Roommate Wanted – Betty’s Bay 🌿🌊

Hi everyone! 😊 I’m looking for a female roommate to share my peaceful little home in Betty’s Bay.

I’m currently renting a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom furnished home/granny flat, and I have one lovely ensuite bedroom available. I’m looking for someone who is clean, respectful, independent, reliable and enjoys a quiet home environment. ❤️

• 🌄 Beautiful mountain views
• 🌿 Private garden
• 🏖️ Betty’s Bay beach is a short walk away
• 🐧 Penguin Beach is around 15 minutes away
• 🏡 Peaceful residential area
• ⚡ The property runs on solar + wind energy, so electrical outages isn’t an issue
• 🔥 Gas is used for the kitchen and hot-water geyser
• 🍳 It’s a small, simple and comfortable home rather than a luxury house

Because the property is off-grid, high-power appliances such as hairdryers, straighteners, toasters, etc. are best used when there is plenty of sunshine/energy available. ☀️

💰 Monthly Costs — Simple & Transparent

The R6,000 is your base monthly payment, covering your half of the rent, your fibre contribution and your half of the payment for the cleaner.

🔥 Gas is pay-as-you-go and split 50/50 when bottles are refilled.

The bathroom/geyser bottle is roughly R500 and currently lasts around a month for one person. The kitchen bottle is around R350 and can last 1.5–2 months or longer, depending on cooking.

There is also the option of getting a larger R700 bottle, which may last around two months for the geyser.

So, depending on usage, I’d suggest budgeting roughly R500–R750 extra per month for your share of gas.

Your costs = Rent/fiber/cleaner = R6000 Gas = R500-R750 pay as you go

🧹 A cleaner will come twice a month, with the cost currently around R500 each per month for your share.

🐈 About the Cats

I have two Maine Coon cats, so you definitely need to be comfortable around cats. 🐱🐱

They are friendly and part of the household, so unfortunately this wouldn’t be suitable for someone who dislikes cats or has a significant cat allergy. They own the house haha.

If you love animals that’s bonus. 😊

👨‍💻 About Me

I work from home as an online English teacher, usually 7 days a week from around 1pm–9pm.

I teach from my room with the door closed, so you’ll have the rest of the house mostly to yourself during the day. 😊

I’m generally quiet, independent and keep to myself. I’m not looking for a party house or someone who wants people coming over constantly.

That said, I’m not a hermit 😂 — I enjoy chatting, music, singing, movies/TV, beach walks, animals and occasionally going out and exploring.

I’d ideally like someone who is happy to have a peaceful quiet home but also potentially become friends, rather than simply two strangers living under the same roof.

🚭 House Environment

• No smoking inside 🚭
• none smokers preferably however - Outside smoking is okay as long as the garden is kept clean
• No loud parties as Betty’s Bay is a biosphere as to not disrupt the natural environment and the local wildlife
• Respectful/quiet environment
• Reasonable visitors, My cats get stressed with people always coming and going and their safety is important to me if doors are left open by visitors.
• Clean up after yourself in shared areas
• Mutual privacy and respect
• Independent and considerate lifestyle

The owners are also friendly and welcoming, and there is an elderly lady living in the other unit, so it’s a very peaceful environment. 🌿

📄 Rental Arrangement

The room is available under a 6-month lease agreement, with the exact arrangement discussed before moving in.
