About the room

ROOM AVAILABLE – FOR PEOPLE WHO ENJOY PEACE, STABILITY, AND SLEEP

We have a room available in a 3-bedroom house shared by my sister and me.

The house includes:

  • A yard
  • A garage
  • Water and electricity included
  • Close to shops and schools
  • A surprisingly low level of unnecessary drama

Before applying, please note that this is not a party house.

If your ideal Friday night involves:

  • 37 friends arriving unexpectedly
  • A Bluetooth speaker the size of a fridge
  • Someone shouting “ONE MORE SONG!” at 1am…

…we wish you well in your future housing journey.

Visitors are welcome with notice.

Braais are welcome.

Music is welcome.

Having a good time is welcome.

However, by 9pm we would like the house to transition from “social gathering” to “peaceful human habitat.”

My sister and I are extremely chilled and generally make less noise than most household appliances. There is a reasonable chance you’ll forget we’re home until you see us in the kitchen.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Pays rent on time
  • Cleans up after themselves
  • Understands that walls are not soundproof
  • Doesn’t believe every evening needs to become a music festival

In exchange, you’ll get a comfortable home, good neighbours, included utilities, and a living environment where hearing a pin drop is considered normal and not a cause for concern.

If you’re looking for a calm place to live, work, study, relax, and occasionally enjoy a braai without accidentally hosting Tomorrowland, we’d love to hear from you.

About the roomies

The current household consists of my sister (22) and me (27).

My sister is an introvert. If she were a software setting, she would be permanently set to “Do Not Disturb.” She enjoys movies, series, and generally living a peaceful existence that doesn’t involve unnecessary interaction with strangers. She’s also a herbivore, which means she looks at cows and sees friends. I look at cows and see several menu options. Despite this fundamental philosophical difference, we’ve managed to coexist for many years without incident.

As for me, I’m somewhere between introvert and extrovert. Sometimes I’m very social and happy to chat about anything from music to business to why someone thought pineapple belonged on pizza. Other times I disappear into my room for hours researching tech, business ideas, marketing strategies, random facts, or whatever topic has captured my attention that week.

I work full-time and seem to have a recurring condition where I start new business ventures whenever I spot an opportunity. Most people unwind by watching TV. I unwind by convincing myself I’ve discovered a gap in the market and then spending three hours researching it.

Neither of us are partiers. We both enjoy a peaceful environment and generally make less noise than a library that’s trying not to wake a sleeping baby.

The household vibe is very relaxed:

  • No drama.
  • No random screaming.
  • No surprise house parties.
  • No one borrowing your milk and pretending they don’t know what happened to it.

You’ll probably fit in well if you enjoy having your own space, respect other people’s space, and appreciate a home where the loudest sound is occasionally me saying “wait… I think I have an idea.”
